Pepsi has broken the vending machine paradigm (Yes, there was one.) Their new Social Vending Machine is equipped with a fancy touchscreen that allows you to gift a Pepsi product to one of your friends. The machine then sends a text message to that lucky friend who can then redeem the pop (or soda) from any Social Vending Machine. Pepsi has hinted at adding Facebook and other social integration to these machines as well.
That’s the long and short of it. And it certainly isn’t the end of it. We will surely see more products linked to the ever growing digital space. At the heart of this product, we see what was once a singular activity turned into an opportunity to connect with friends.
