Todd Jamison had a very bad day a few weeks ago. He left his Hyundai Elantra parked in a lot only to have it end up on the receiving end of the “Worst Parking Job Ever.” A well-placed security camera turned the incident into viral gold. Hyundai must have a rapid response social media team in place because one week after the video went viral, they brought Todd to the same parking lot and gave him a brand new Hyundai. He was, of course, surprised and happy which is exactly how I feel about Hyundai. The marketplace gave them an opportunity to get involved and they took it with lightning speed. Doing the same thing three weeks from now would have much less effect. The rapid response indicates a well-tuned ear for viral opportunity.
