The Obama campaign won two grands prix awards from the Cannes Lions International Advertising Awards. The first award was for marketing that is “provocative, challenges assumptions and points to a new direction.” The second was for using at least three or more media that is “high standard and state-of-the-art.” By using traditional outlets such as TV, radio, and door-to-door canvassing combined with new ones like social media and viral marketing, the Obama campaign impressed the judges and attendees. Certainly results don’t hurt either. Other winners produced viral campaigns and other word of mouth marketing.
