Unethical, seedy, fraudulent — the actions of college guide company College Prowler have been described in more than a few ways by now. Dave Kerpen of WOMMA member the Kbuzz has provided his own thoughts and adjectives about the latest online unethical scandal, and we’d like to highlight not his criticisms, but his suggestions for remedying future situations. Universities and other institutions or higher learning, take note of some of Dave’s key points:
1) “College institutions had better get way more involved in social media and specifically in Facebook, immediately.”
2) “There are many colleges that seem to have a Facebook presence, but it’s very unclear as to whether it’s from the college itself or just its students and/or alumni.”
3) “With a Page, you can communicate with prospective students and parents as well as current students and parents, and alumni- and then you can monitor groups without owning administrative control of them.”
