WOMMA Announces Brand Council for Brand and Nonprofit Members

Education Designed for WOMMA Brand and Nonprofit Members

Chicago, IL Apr. 20, 2009 -- The Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA) today announced the launch of its inaugural Brands Council, which is dedicated to providing education and guidance in the ethical and effective implementation of word of mouth marketing and social media marketing to WOMMA’s brand and nonprofit members.

Brands and nonprofits are increasingly interested in integrating WOM and social media into the current marketing mix. WOMMA will help its brands and nonprofit members by providing webinars, interviews, as well as a community space for brands and nonprofits to discuss issues they face within their companies.

“The purpose of the Brands Council is to provide a forum where brands and nonprofits can learn about implementing WOM, with an emphasis on social media,” said Brands Council Leader, Gary Spangler, E-Business Leader, DuPont Electronic & Communication Technologies. “The Brands Council will accomplish this by providing access to subject matter experts and peer-to-peer collaboration.”

The format of the Brands Council education program include monthly webinars focused on ethical WOM and the internal sell with speakers from Forrester Research, Wikipedia, Yelp!, Google, Intuit, Dell and many more. Interviews with webinar speakers will be posted on blogtalkradio and a community for brand and nonprofit members of WOMMA will be hosted on the Brands Council blog. The first webinar is scheduled for Thursday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. CST and open to member and nonmember brands of WOMMA.
