WOMMA Membership Ethics Advisory Panel

The WOMMA Membership Ethics Advisory Panel (MEAP) is responsible for investigating complaints against WOMMA members pursuant to the Disciplinary Procedures of the Word of Mouth Marketing Association, a copy of which are attached hereto.

Panel Membership Criteria

In order to be eligible to serve on the MEAP, panel members must meet the following criteria:

  1. Employee of a WOMMA member company in good standing
  2. Hold a management level position within the member company
  3. Possess significant knowledge of and experience in word of mouth marketing
  4. Possess a working understanding of the WOMMA Ethics Code of Conduct, Bylaws, and all other WOMMA policies, rules or regulations
  5. Has not been involved in activity that violates the WOMMA Code of Ethics
  6. Not a member of the WOMMA Board of Directors

Conflict of Interest

In order to avoid potential conflicts of interest, members of the MEAP will not participate in any investigation that involves his or her employer, a direct competitor, or a client. A MEAP member should recuse him/herself in all instances in which he/she feels there may be an actual or perceived conflict of interest. If the MEAP Chair perceives a conflict of interest where the member has not recused him/herself, the Chair may ask any member to do so.

Confidentiality

MEAP members agree to keep all discussions regarding investigations and disciplinary actions strictly confidential. Investigations may not be discussed outside of the panel’s formal meetings.

Leadership, Participation and Size

The MEAP will consist of a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 11 members, including the Chair. The members of the MEAP, including the Chair, shall be appointed by the WOMMA Board of Directors from amongst the members of WOMMA. The Board of Directors shall accept nominations for membership on the MEAP from all interested members. The Board of Directors shall endeavor to balance the general membership of the MEAP so that it reflects the general make-up of WOMMA’s membership. MEAP members shall serve a one year term in office. A MEAP member may serve a maximum of three consecutive terms. The Chair of the MEAP may serve a maximum of two consecutive terms in such office. All members of the MEAP shall have the right to vote, provided, however, the Chair of the MEAP shall only vote to break a tie. MEAP members will be required to participate in a training session designed to educate MEAP members on WOMMA’s Disciplinary Procedures, Ethics Code of Conduct, Bylaws, WOMMA’s policies, rules and regulations, and the general operations and role of the MEAP.
